Oct 2008 - First and foremost may I take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the Government of Egypt for the warm welcome and hosting this International Ministerial Conference on Avian and Pandemic Influenza to those international agencies and organizations for holding this conference. I understand that this conference is follow up to previous global conferences and it is encouraging to learn that the aims of this conference which is highlighting the requirements of developing and least developed countries for the effort in controlling HPAI outbreaks and Human Influenza Pandemic preparedness and response.  more...

May 2008 - The 21st century faced new challenges of natural disasters; climate changes cause death and diseases through extreme weather such as heat waves, floods and draughts. The South-East Asia Region is prone to the effects of climate change whereby tornados and floods render many homeless and vulnerable to epidemic outbreaks of cholera and diarrhea diseases. June 29, 2007 -It has come to our notice about the remarks of the UN coordinator warning of the looming humanitarian crisis in Myanmar in the International Herald Tribune, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, mentioning a definite need for scaling up the humanitarian response; evolution of three diseases which is worrying and if there is not an effort to try to and address the three diseases, address the issues of acute poverty that are emerging- it is pushing the situation towards a serious humanitarian crisis.  more...
